He lived in Mitcham, then moved to a bungalow in Barnham, Sussex. Mum used to take us down to stay with him and Grandma for our summer holidays. He worked in a shed in the garden and smelt of ink. Once a week he'd cycle to Barnham station and go by train to Farringdon to deliver his work. He drew Sexton Blake for the 'Knockout', and cartoons for 'Punch', and did the lettering for 'The Valiant', 'June and School friend' and 'Bunty'. He'd have samples of his comics at home and lucky me! to be able to read so many comics.
